North American Mint is the first Mint in minting history to employ a New and Powerful Engraving method for engraving photo quality images up to 500dpi (dots per inch) onto precious metals. In the past it seemed almost impossible to achieve such an intricate process because precious metals such as silver, platinum or gold do not have perfect flat surfaces to work with no mater how much pressure is applied. As well as being soft metals. In other words the microscopic hills and valleys would not allow for an engraving machine to produce photographs in such fine detail. North American Mint has worked with an engraving machine manufacturer to prepare a machine and custom software working hand in hand with our master engraver ( Paul Klem ) to be the first to achieve precisely that. Amazing photo reproduction onto precious metal. Working with the photo to prepare it for engraving along with monitoring and adjustments by our master engraver makes for a very unique, one of a kind collectable medallion or coin.
